Solo debut album from Neyla Pekarek of The Lumineers
"Telling one of the greatest untold stories... Pekarek channels her inner badass." — Billboard
Newly signed to S-Curve Records, Neyla Pekarek, formerly of the Lumineers, will be playing songs from her upcoming album Rattlesnake. The Lumineers announced in October 2018 that Pekarek has left the band after eight years to launch a solo career beginning with the single "Train" coming out this year. "Train" will be followed by her debut solo album Rattlesnake in 2019.
"A band is like an organism — it grows, changes & evolves," The Lumineers tweeted on Thursday, alongside a press release detailing Pekarek's future plans. "These changes aren't easy but are an unavoidable part of life. After writing, recording & touring the past eight years, Neyla has decided to leave the Lumineers to pursue her solo career. We wish her nothing but the best."
During Pekarek's time with the group, The Lumineers scored their biggest hit, "Ho Hey," which peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2012 and topped the Adult Pop Songs chart.
"They say when a snake sheds its skin, it is a sign of rebirth, transformation, and new beginnings," Pekarek said in a statement. "Eight years ago, I answered a Craigslist ad to be in a band. In those eight years, we were nominated for two Grammys, we met President Obama, and we saw just about every dark, dingy green room this big, beautiful planet has to offer. I am incredibly grateful for these experiences and opportunities, but it is time to shed my skin; it is time for a new adventure."
Wesley Schultz and Jeremiah Fraites are the two remaining members of The Lumineers.
