The Flying Burrito Bros. are widely viewed as the inventors of country rock and are one of the most influential bands of all time. Burrito Deluxe is another classic full of great tunes written and sung by Parsons and Chris Hillman.

Muddy sound posted on 09/19/2020 3 Stars I don't know what the claims of "top-end energy and snap" are supposed to indicate, but my copy was distressingly muddy and muffled compared to the original 1969 A&M LP and subsequent CD reissues. The voices are very clear and prominent, and the low-end is about ten times louder than you've ever heard it before, but the instruments suffer from the obvious heroic attempts to re-equalize those pristine safety tapes. Mandolin, fiddle, even Leon Russell's piano sound dead. Worst of all, the distinctive tone of Sneaky Pete's steel is totally MIA. I also question the sanity of opening the record with a loud, obnoxious fake radio spot (in Spanish). It was done "for fun", but isn't. It's more likely to induce a cringe every time you cue up the album. Unless you're a bass freak, save your money and gently tweak one of the existing CD reissues with your tone controls. That's not a perfect solution, but it's better than this ill-conceived attempt to make the album something it never was.

Let's be honest here posted on 02/06/2020 4 Stars Reviewer: Dave in Indiana Whoever supplied the above copy needs a short history lesson. Gram Parsons did not lead the Flying Burrito Brothers. Chris Hillman did. The drug-addled Parsons was too irresponsible to take care of himself, much less a working band. This album may not be the classic that 'Gilded Palace of Sin' was, but it does have some great songs. The recording quality is far superior to 'Gilded Palace,' which had some awkward phasing issues.
