After the release of 2017's acclaimed A New Career In A New Town (1977-1982) box set, breakouts of five selected albums from the set as stand-alone releases are now available. The five — Low, Heroes, Stage (2017 version 3LP), Lodger, and Scary Monsters (And Super Creeps) — haven't been available on vinyl officially for more than a quarter of a century.

A New Career In A New Town (1977-1982) is the third in a series of box sets spanning Bowie's career, following Five Years (1969-1973) and Who Can I Be Now (1974-1976).

Stage is David Bowie's second live album, recorded on the Isolar II world tour, and released by RCA Records in 1978. When an artist releases a live album, it often closes one chapter in their career, and opens another. Such was the case with the release of Stage by David Bowie.

The album was recorded over a handful of dates on a tour that took him around the globe, and came at the end of a now legendary string of studio albums that turned any notion of there being a "Bowie formula" on its head, writes Ultimate Classic Rock. In between the final Ziggy Stardust show in 1973 and the release of Stage in September of 1978, there had been many changes.

The bulk of the material on Stage features highlights from Bowie's more recent albums, but one entire side is devoted to songs from Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars. This might seem at odds with Bowie's future gazing agenda, but the songs are given a new feel from new musicians, and all work withing the context of the newer sounds. It is, however, the songs from Low and Heroes that shine brightest here. Live takes of "What In The World," "Breaking Glass," and "Heroes" are all delivered wonderfully.
