Deep Purple - Machine Head

Deep Purple rocks like no other band. Anyone over the age of 10 or who has ever picked up a guitar knows the opening riff to “Smoke On The Water.” The classic lineup of Ritchie Blackmore, Ian Gillan, Roger Glover and Ian Paice is a seminal example of full-on, amps-at-eleven, bang-your-head, blow-your-speakers rock with a capital BLAM! Features some of the group’s biggest hits, and most popular songs.

Classic Rock Standard Sounding Good

It looks like I got the 2019 version. Mine says KPG @ CA instead of KPG @ ATM in the dead wax. Both have the same barcode so it would be nice if we knew if the source was different. It is a bit quiet so crank it up.

I am always skeptical of remasters and re-pressings when I have an original pressing but this pressing is exceptional. Dead quiet and excellent SQ.

This has been out of my collection for decades and I tried this pressing on a lark. Wow! Very powerful and sounding fantastic, much better than I recall the original. Of course I had different equipment then. However I can say I am totally impressed with Kevin's Gray's mastering of this classic. It was fascinating to hear it in such clarity. I must of listened to the original a hundered times! Yet I heard this record in a new light with this pressing, which by the way was completely flat and silent. I'm impressed, and the music holds up beautifully.

Not completely sure it’s the same record. My sleeve says it’s RI75622. Nice clean record with good bass but midrange is rather subdued on the “smoke on the water track” Lazy not much better

Much more aticulate and intimate than the original pressing. Maybe I'm a Leo is now my favorite cut on this album. Highly recommended for Purple fans.

My favorite Deep Purple album now sounds very good on 180gr Vinyl! I have SACD, DVDA and old original LP version. All versions sounds different, good work is multichannel DVDA track. But much better Deep Purple songs sounds on 180gr Vinyl. Just try to compare...

When my original copy of Machine Head was sounding worn I decided to upgrade to the 180 gram reissue. Although Smoke on the Water has the classic riff that everyone knows, it is my opinion that Lazy is the song you have to hear. From the moment Jon Lord hits the opening note to the full force onslaught of Blackmore and company you know you are in for an aural experience. The sound is deep and black. The entire album stands the test of time and is well worth purchasing.
