Pain Recordings strikes again.

Posted Monday, February 19, 2018 by abcgroup Pain Recordings strikes again. The vinyl is chock full of surface noise and non-fill, which you absolutely hear on quiet songs like "Mellow Doubt." Luckily the LP is mastered quite loud so the rock tunes drown out the non-fill. But the LP is very sibilant. I would not recommend buying this LP. This is my favorite album and I'm still returning my copy. 2-19-18

Go with the other pressing

Posted Tuesday, April 2, 2013 by Jordy Hey Ween fans - there are two pressings of Chocolate and Cheese here - this one (the Plain recordings) and the other one. In spite of this being 180g vinyl, the other pressing, while pricier, is mastered from the analogue recordings, not - as is often the case with Plain records - from the CD. It also has a gatefold cover. Either way, you can't lose as this is one of the best records of the 90s - but 8 bucks more gets you a far better pressing...

The quality of the music is great, but there is just so much surface noise! Are all of Plain Recordings like this?
