Posted Monday, September 17, 2012 by Anthony I was very excited when I read that this album was available as I often frequented the venue where the music was recorded in Seattle. Sadly, I found this to be an average live recording, rather dull and lifeless. I did not remember Parnell's sounding quite so flat. The music swings and is enjoyable. Unfortunately, the vinyl was not near as flat as the recording. It caused my phono to jump and dance in the grooves. It is red and very pretty and comes in a hard sleeve. I recommend an inner sleeve to avoid scuffs.

Missed the boat

Posted Wednesday, September 5, 2012 by -R. It's a shame really. This is a fantastic package, with quiet vinyl surfaces, a stout gatefold sleeve, four extra tracks and great artwork. Unfortunately, it sounds like someone played back a CD of the album on their computer, pressed it to vinyl and called it a day. This leads to an utterly boring, dead presentation of what really is Sam Phillips' finest album ever. There's little to no dynamic range in the mastering leading to an overall sustained loud presentation which completely lacks finesse, rolled off frequency extremes (especially up top), and no energy to this vinyl issue. It's rather disappointing overall as I was so excited to see this overlooked gem finally come out on vinyl. Meh.

Save your money.
