The Alan Parsons Project — I Robot (CV 45 Audiophile Edition Half-Speed Remaster)
The Alan Parsons Project's critically acclaimed, multi-million selling album I Robot, is reissued in this 2LP heavyweight, 45 RPM Audiophile edition. Expertly cut by Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios, November 2024, on a customised Neumann VMS 80 lathe at half speed using high-resolution archive transfers that were made from Eric Woolfson's rarely played mint condition duplicate masters. The first pressing comes with a numbered Obi-strip. Pressed at Optimal, Europe's premium pressing plant.
The I Robot album draws conceptually on author Isaac Asimov's science fiction Robot stories, exploring philosophical themes regarding artificial intelligence. Like other Alan Parsons Project albums, there were a variety of different lead vocalists employed including Steve Harley, Allan Clarke, Lenny Zakatek, Peter Straker, Jack Harris and Jaki Whitren. Plus, a selection of session musicians such as guitarist Ian Bairnson and drummer Stuart Tosh with arrangements by Andrew Powell.
Both I Robot and Pyramid were worldwide hits upon their initial releases in 1977 and 1978, respectively, both selling well in excess of 2 million copies, achieving platinum- and gold-selling status in numerous countries including the USA, Germany and Canada.
