1976 album reissued on 180-gram Easter Yellow vinyl!

Classic Genesis album features "Ripples," "Squonk," and "A Trick Of The Tail"

Genesis' seventh studio album was released in February 1976 on Charisma Records and was the first to feature drummer Phil Collins as lead vocalist after the departure of Peter Gabriel. It was a critical and commercial success in the U.K. and U.S., reaching No. 3 and No. 31 respectively. A Trick Of The Tail was a landmark album for the band, and it still stands today as one of their best with classics such as "Dance On A Volcano" and "Squonk."

Following Gabriel's decision to leave the band, the remaining members wanted to carry on and show they could still write and record successful material. The group wrote and rehearsed new songs during mid-1975, and listened to about 400 audition tapes for a replacement frontman. They entered Trident Studios in October with producer David Hentschel to record the album without a definitive idea of who was going to perform lead vocals. Eventually, Collins was persuaded to sing "Squonk," and the performance was so strong, he sang lead on the rest of album.

Genesis have always been known for their sense of spectacle and their groundbreaking live shows, as much as their ambitious studio albums like the evergreen Nursery Cryme, Foxtrot, Selling England By The Pound, and The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway. Throughout the last four decades, the group has sold 150 million albums worldwide and has influenced the likes of Elbow, The Flaming Lips and Jeff Buckley.

I own this album in CD but as an audiophile in this field 1988, I set back my turntable for my second audio kit and want to have it in LP, so I ordered this one. This album always have more high frequencies as Selling England by the pound (witch I prefer for sound recording). My copy is very quiet and I am very happy with this purchase. I had ordered other 180g pressing here but some crack and pop are audible, this pressing quality is excellent, nothing to say, go and buy it.
