Sonically, this is an absolute reference quality demo album. And I don't say that lightly. Whenever I have a friend over to listen to my system who's skeptical of "the vinyl fad", I might get their attention with my favorite Analogue Productions classical or jazz 45s, including some UHQRs. But they always respond with, "Yeah...well, vinyl might sound nice and warm and make acoustic music sound nicer, but it's still not in the league of HiRez digital for more dynamic music."
And THAT'S when I pull out this record and crank the volume to stadium concert levels. My guests usually have to pick their jaws up from the floor once Enter Sandman finishes, and then comes the intro for Sad But True.
The 24/96 FLAC files of this album (even played through my Cary SACD 306 Pro as a DAC) don't hold a candle to the sound quality of this 2 LP vinyl set. If you love this album and want to hear it in all of its glory, this is the format, and the pressing, to own.
