Few entertainers have attained the iconic status of Dwight Yoakam. Perhaps that's because so few have consistently and repeatedly met the high standards of artistry and excellence delivered by the Kentucky native, no matter what the endeavor. As a highly acclaimed American singer-songwriter, actor, and film director best known for his pioneering signature sound in country rock music, Yoakam has recorded more than 20 albums, charted more than 30 singles, been nominated for 21 Grammy Awards (with 2 wins) and sold a staggering 25 million albums.

Produced by Pete Anderson, Guitars, Cadillacs sinewy mix of traditional honky-tonk, red-hot Bakersfield twang and rock n' roll attitude spawned a trio of hits including a cover of Johnny Horton's "Honky Tonk Man," "It Won't Hurt," and the title track. In the bigger picture, its stripped-down sound twisted together strains of Hank Williams, Merle Haggard, Buck Owens, Elvis Presley, and more — with a roots driven rawness, it changed and revitalized country music.

One of my favorite country albums but the CD had a hard digital glare that made it useless. I had hoped that the new analog record would minimize the glare. I think they made it worse. Don't waste your money. One of the worst analog albums I've ever bought. Just an awful sound mix/mastering job.
