First new studio album in more than 25 years

A new-wave Lady Gaga defined by her outrageous, barely-there attire, high-pitched voice and color wheel of dyed hair, Dale Bozzio tore through the '80s as the audacious frontwoman of Missing Persons, best-known for pop-rock classics such as "Words," "Destination Unknown" and "Walking in L.A."

Now, she's back with a brand-new solo album titled Missing In Action, out March 4 on Cleopatra Records, which dips back into the "original Missing Persons era but in the current atmosphere" of electronic music, Bozzio says. "It's a little bit eclectic, it's avant-garde, but melodically, the vocals are very upfront."

Produced by former Yes member Billy Sherwood and recorded in Los Angeles, Missing in Action arrives in a period of rebirth for Bozzio, 58, whose parents and best friend died in recent years. "I was kind of hiding but now things have changed for me," Bozzio says. "I'm just going back heavy into the music business." The album's release date is especially significant for her, as it's the day that her mother died — a purely coincidental decision on the part of the record label, but one that makes Bozzio reflect on where she's been and what lies ahead.

"I've been in this business for many, many years," Bozzio says. "This is what I started and I will finish it. I will always be there for all my listeners and I believe this is the beginning of something for me to hopefully have another 10 years of work left."

Once the album is released, she hopes to pursue other projects and passions, whether that means touring, painting more, releasing a cookbook or collaborating with other artists.

And those dream collaborators would include? Billy Bob Thornton and Nicki Minaj, she says. "I've always been an independent person but that would be an interesting adventure."
