Cosmo’s Factory - the name drummer Doug "Cosmo" Clifford gave CCR’s rehearsal studio because so many hits were created there - lived up to its namesake in spades. Released in July 1970, the album contained more hit singles (six) than any other CCR LP, achieved multi-platinum status and became the band’s all-time best-selling album both in the U.S. and worldwide (69 weeks on the Billboard charts). In addition, the trailblazing extended version of "I Heard It Through The Grapevine" (which Rolling Stone pronounced "more intense than any six minutes of Grateful Dead music on record") was never released as a single during the group’s heyday but received enormous AM and FM airplay, boosting both the song and the LP to No. 1 on all three trade music charts.

Originally released in 1970.

This is the music that I grew up on. I remember riding through the neighborhood with my little transistor radio taped the handlebars of my Huffy bicycle and CCR dominating the airwaves! So now 44 years later I'm listening to this excellent pressing with a big smile on my face and I can't keep my foot from stomping with the beat. Folks, It's like a religious experience!

I don't know if this album gets any better. I haven't had a chance to listen to an original pressing but I'm not going to go searching after hearing this one. I feel like this a more than sufficient sounding pressing of one of the greatest Rock Records ever put to tape. I feel like the sound stage and the space around the instruments could be better. Particularly I feel like the guitar lead parts could be more out there in space and more in your face. I have a Creedence Gold Pressing where I feel the guitar sounds better on some of these songs although the balance and lows are better on this pressing. The Creedence Gold sounds more open with more air around the instruments on "I Heard it through the Grapevine" for instance. Although again I like the balance and lows better on the Hoffman Mastered Cosmo. I just wish the guitar work was hotter and more upfront. Overall though this is a great sounding reissue and should be on your short list of new vinyl to buy.

Fantastic!

This is the best sounding pressing of this I have ever heard! The tonal balance is spot on, the bass reaches lower than ever before. LP is very flat and noiseless however the center hole of my copy is rather sloppy and I would have expected being QRP it would be perfect. CCR fans should not miss out on these.
