Rolling Stone 500 Greatest Albums of All Time — Rated 57/500!

Songs in the Key of Life was the last of five consecutive albums widely hailed as Stevie Wonder's "classic period" and became among the best-selling and most critically acclaimed albums of his career.

"Songs in the Key of Life (1976) was the highest high point of Stevie Wonder's career. More sprawling than Innervisions and Talking Book, this album was also less of a consistent stunner than either of those masterworks. That Songs retains an enormous amount of visionary relevance, though, is demonstrated not only in Coolio's borrowing of 'Pastime Paradise' as a template for 'Gangsta's Paradise,' but in the cold-as-ice synthesized string quartet of 'Village Ghetto Land.' This is Stevie, so naturally that cut's anger is balanced by the ultra-buoyant 'I Wish,' 'Sir Duke,' and 'Another Star.'" —

The music is of course great, which is why this album has seen releases in many formats. This is a great sounding Blu Ray Pure Audio release. I'm normally a big SACD /DSD fan, but heard the Blu Ray release of this album was perhaps the best. This release is a great sounding stereo release. Great separation, depth and clarity. Worth purchasing.

My first Stevie Wonder disc and I owe it to Blu Ray Audio. I have always been in the closet with pop/soul but many seeds have been planted in my mind through the years. The music is iconic and I was very happy listening to the entire disc. I actually got the message of love. The original 1976 mini booklet is complete. I wish there was 2014 liner notes that reflected on the "making of" or at least reissue notes. On this 2 channel stereo only disc I preferred the PCM pure stereo out of the 3 choices DTS-HD Master Audio, Dolby True HD, or PCM. I am noticing that between different Blu Ray Audio's what I choose can be different. This disc has a screen, as others, that shows all tracks and what track you are on, but not name of track. Hassel to be looking at disc cover for name of track. All track numbers, names, and auto cursor would be ideal. Great disc, really glad I purchased.

Wonderful Reissue and AWESOME Format!

I literally threw this into my "basket" in order to make the Free Shipping mark. I was going to buy the Audio Fidelity CD, but thought, "What the heck, I'll give it a shot."

I am a vinyl person, first and foremost, with about 5,000 LPs and another 2,000 CDs. The last thing I was looking for was another format, believe me. Skeptical has heck, I popped it in andI was totally blown away by the sound! I have been playing this disc all weekend. I did compare the blu ray to my original pressing on vinyl and was pleasantly surprised. Not really sure I could say the vinyl won "hands down". Both formats have positives. The blu ray was completely warm and detailed. I think I liked the vocals better on wax, but this disc is a treat. Of course, I have at least 10x the $ invested in the turntable!

I am pretty excited about these and am ordering a few more. I preferred the DTS HD mix over the PCM and Dolby. Oh, and this version has the 4 bonus cuts.

Wonderful surprise!

First off I was not sure about this format, but I went ahead and ordered it anyway. I loaded it (it defaulted to 2 channel automatically) and I was shocked on how great it sounded! It also came with a booklet with all the words and notes. I immediately started singing to this awesome album. I highly recommend this format and this title. Buy it you won't be disappointed.

Here in France, we are in a market-test since april or may for that new format. And it's so incredible. More depth, more details, more presence. I have never listened Songs in the key... like that before. Wonder really sings in my room. 5 stars are not enough. Very very recommended. And it's the same miracle with the Bob Marley 's Legend.
