Mastered from the original analog master tapes by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering

Part of a vinyl reissue series by the Zappa Family Trust and Universal Music Enterprises. Back on vinyl 40 years after its original release, Over-Nite Sensation is reissued on 180-gram vinyl; the album includes the tracks "Camarillo Brillo," "I'm The Slime" and "Dinah-Moe Humm," among others.

Originally released in September of 1973, Over-Nite Sensation was recorded with The Mothers of Invention during the same sessions as Frank Zappa's 1974 solo album Apostrophe and it collects seven tight tracks produced, arranged and conducted by Zappa himself. Featuring some of the most accessible material in Zappa's prolific career, Over-Nite Sensation became his second gold album and many of its tracks became concert staples including "I'm The Slime," "Dirty Love" and "Montana."

This is a really good pressing. No surface noise issues at all. This record does not sound as good as Apostrophe, also pressed at Pallas.

Frank's voice is well captured and focused, but softer than I'd prefer. I wish they mic'd him more appropriately, or do something to bring his voice out stronger, but as it stands, it's the only thing I have against this record. It's not a big knock, but it's just not sharp like on Apostrophe. The instruments are also well-captured, and they don't seem softened, like Frank's voice. The soundfield is adequately wide, and has depth. If you sit in the sweet spot, there are sonic effects that can be utterly hypnotic.

Overall really good.

Quiet pressing. I hear details in this mastering that I’ve not heard in 40+ years of listening to this album. Great soundstage and separation. Was like hearing it for the first time. Hope to find more from this pressing plant.

Great imaging, soundstage. you'll think you're running a center channel speaker.

This Pallas-pressed version of "Over-nite Sensation" is superb in every way. The pressing is quiet & perfectly flat. The sonics are impressive as well, perhaps slightly more "dynamic" than the DiscReet original, but it sounds great. Highly recommended!
