Mastered by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio

One of the most important and widely influential albums in the history of American Roots Music

Three years after leaving Bill Monroe's seminal Blue Grass Boys in 1948, guitarist-vocalist Lester Flatt (1914-1979) and banjo virtuoso-vocalist Earl Scruggs (1924-2012) recorded the first selections that comprise Foggy Mountain Jamboree, one of the most important and widely influential albums in the history of American Roots Music.

Spanning the years 1951 to 1955, Foggy Mountain Jamboree was made in Nashville under the watchful eye and empathetic ears of legendary producer Don Law, who saw to it that Flatt & Scruggs' Foggy Mountain Boys sounded as clean and clear as the water of a Tennessee mountain stream. In addition to their instrumental prowess, Flatt & Scruggs, plus their featured sidemen (including Curly Seckler or Everett Lilly on mandolin, Benny Martin, Paul Warren, or Howdy Forrester on fiddle, and Josh 'Buck' Graves on dobro), harmonized beautifully, as the vocals throughout this collection attest. Foggy Mountain Jamboree is nothing less than an essential part of every bluegrass collection.
