The Ventures - Super Psychedelics

The Ventures' guitar-driven instrumental sound was the genesis of the "surf-music" genre. The height of their popularity was in the 1960s. They have sold more than 110 million albums during the course of their long career and, at one point, had five albums in the US Billboard Top 100 at the same time.

The kings of the instrumental go full out here to create an excellent "flower power" album with titles like "Endless Dream, "Vibrations" and "Psyched-Out" to wet your appetite. It's up there with the best of the exploito/psych stuff such as The Undergrounds — Psychedelic Visions and the Animated Egg etc. Containing fuzz guitar, sitar And theremin, and a few flower power cover versions to fill it out, it's well worth a listen.
