Two One-Sided LPs

Rapsodie espagnole/ DSO

Originally recorded at the Cass Technical High School Auditorium in Detroit, this exceptional mixture of French composition was recorded using a three-microphone rig to 35mm magnetic film. Using a film medium was an extremely expensive procedure but the technical advantages, including no hiss, truer transient response, no flutter plus extremely accurate delineation of the timbre of the instruments was worth it. Another 10+ recording transferred by Grundman and Cozart-Fine for Classic Records.

I left this record unopened for many months due to time constraints. Recently I played the Rapsodie Espanole and it blew my socks off. I had not previously been a great fan of this work until hearing this 45 rpm recording. Not only do you get dynamics but detail galore. You will regret it if you do not make this part of you lp collection.

This is one of the best 45 rpm recordings. But be aware that there is only Ravel on the 2 records. No Ibert.
