One of Europe’s most prominent conductors, the Austrian–born Johannes Wildner has a slew of accolades attached to his name. After positions as Chief Conductor of Prague State Opera (1994-95) and First Permanent Conductor of Leipzig Opera (1996-98), Wildner was the General Music Director of the New Philharmonic Orchestra of Westphalia (Germany) for 10 years from 1997. More recently, he was appointed Principal Guest Conductor of the BBC Concert Orchestra in London.

Wildner's musical repertoire includes various guest appearances in major opera houses – the Leipzig Volksopher Vienna, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra London, the St. Petersburg Philharmonic and the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. A violinist as well as a musicologist, Wildner has recorded more than 60 CDs, videos and DVDs, including complete performances of Carmen and Cosi fan tutte.

In 1790, the year of his father's death, Mozart together with the poet Lorenzo da Ponte, wrote the Vienna opera Cosi fan tutte (All Women Behave Like That). It was commissioned, at the wish of the Emperor Joseph II, after the successful revival of Mozart's earlier collaboration with da Ponte, The Marriage of Figaro, in August 1789. Cosi fan tutte tells of the cynical Don Alfonso, who introduces his young friends Guglielmo and Ferrando to test the fidelity of the sisters they love, Fiordiligi and Dorabella, through a ruse involving the younger men's disguise as Albanian noblemen.  After Mozart's death the opera enjoyed some popularity, but the apparent frivolity of its subject proved generally unacceptable as the 19th century progressed. This performance was recorded at the Moyzes Hall of the Slovak Philharmonic in Bratislava from February to April 1990.
