A performance for the ages: Landmark 1962 vocal pop set established Bennett's career.

Can there really be a definitive album from a singer whose voice is one of the most immediately recognized and internationally cherished and whose command of songs is akin to the manner in which an able-bodied masseuse handles delicate muscle tissues? If so, then I Left My Heart In San Francisco is that record, the 1962 effort was a turning point for the great Tony Bennett and an all-time pop standard. Winner of two Grammy awards, the record contains Bennett's signature track as well as 11 other indelible classics. Half-speed mastered from the original master tapes, Mobile Fidelity's numbered limited-edition 180-gram LP presents Bennett in the finest sound he's ever enjoyed. Amazingly, this landmark recording has lavished in the vaults over the years and longed for the restoration that meticulous engineering can bring.

The music is good, as it may be expected. The sound of this pressing is awful, dull, flat and compressed. Not the best MoFi by any means.

I must be getting old

I would have never believed that I would own a Tony Bennett LP let alone 2. If the mid 80s hardcore Minor Threat me could see the me now he would shake his head in shame - but as I have got older one thing I've learned is to be more open minded. This is a great LP. I don't have a history with it, so I don't know whether its better than the original or whatever. What I do know is that I like sitting down to this record, relaxing and imagining a better world. If this sounds good to you - go get it. ps haven't thrown away my hardcore LPs & 7" - wow are they collectible now!
