The Union marks the culmination of a mutual musical adoration that began in the late 1960s, ahead of Elton's debut U.S. performance in 1970 at The Troubadour Club in Los Angeles. The album is a collaboration between Elton and Leon Russell, with songs by Elton and Bernie Taupin, by Elton, Bernie and Leon; by Elton and Leon and by Leon alone. The Union was recorded in Los Angeles and produced by T Bone Burnett, with guest musicians including Brian Wilson, Booker T, Don Was and Neil Young.

awful vinyl pressing, sublime music

I am so dismayed about this pressing. It's a great album, let down by a truly awful pressing. No dynamics, no seperation, just terrible. The music? Superb. Elton is obviously inspired greatly.

The sleeve notes are brilliant, packaging superb - but what's the point if the vinyl is so poor. Mercury - you should be ashamed of yourselves. Mind you, I should have been warned really - it's a Universal release - doh!

The best reason to buy this album is to prove to yourself that it is a waste of time to put a digital recording onto vinyl! No criticism of the music though whatsoever.

What's wrong with the vinyl

Great performances and songs, but my vinyl sounds terrible. Lots of surface noise. No dynamics. Music just doesn't jump out of the speaker. I know T. Bone production and this isn't it. Just sounds like a very bad pressing. Anyone else having this experience?

It was magical listening to Leon Russell and Elton John play together. A really good recording by two icons. It is amazing to think that after all these years, they both still have it!
