SAP was originally released in 1992, half a year before Dirt came out. It features guest appearances by Ann Wilson (Heart), Mark Arm (Mudhoney) and Chris Connell (Soundgarden). Jar Of Flies was released in January 1994 and shows a side of the band that was unknown until then: predominately acoustic songs and the use of instruments like the harmonica and a talk-box.

AIC on vinyl = YES!

I've read many times that the Alic In Chains releases sound much better on vinyl. I agree. The sound on "Jar" is fantastic. A tip of the hat to producer/ engineer Toby Wright, who I was fortunate to work with at my first studio job when he was an assistant engineer. Beautiful, clear, punchy sounds make this a pleasure to listen to. I didn't enjoy "Sap" as much musically or sonically. The album cover is beautiful and glossy. Will definitely be buying "Unplugged" and "Dirt"!!!

Great set and very nice looking too

This is the way to experience AIC. On Vinyl. The SAP album has always been one of my favorites and sounds better than I remember my old crappy cd sounding. And its a cool blue color with an AIC logo etched on one side of the vinyl. The Jar of Flies is an awesome, clear orange, and sounds great from start to finish.

Once again I am really impressed with music on vinyl's pressings. Having been a huge alice in chains fan since the beginning I was really excited to see music on vinyl repress jar of flies/sap. The dynamics are even better than the original, nice midrange, lfe and smooth top end really bring out the sonic range of the album. On top of that I received the colored vinyl 180g pressing which has jar on clear orange and sap on clear blue sun decal vinyl(yeah it looks really cool. Overall you will not be disappointed with this album, amazing sonic quality and great packaging make it more than worth while.

Well Done!

I am very happy with this purchase. The packaging and albums are very solid, free of defects and beautiful to behold. The colored vinyl is stunning and the etching on the B-Side of SAP is very cool.

As for the sound, it makes the CD sound very flat and boring comparitivily speaking. Even on my medium level sound system, the intricacies of the basslines and guitar parts are exposed with all the warmth you would expect from vinyl. What I didn't expect is the range of emotional depth in Layne Staley's voice that I didn't notice was there.

Highly recommended 180-gram vinyl bliss for those that like the acoustic side of Alice in Chains.
