The performance and recording are wonderful - 5 stars. The dynamics are extraordinary - scaring me more than once. For example, in The Hall of the Mountain King, I never knew there was singing in that song. When the singing cuts loose, I almost jumped out of my seat. The surprise is very visceral as well.

The quiet passages that aren't marred by surface noise are simply delightful. The opera singer appears (sonically) right in the middle, and a little back. Her voice is quite palpable.

This is another classical record where surface noise plays a role. During the louder passages, you'd never hear any kind of surface noise outside of the needle skipping. The quiet passages are mostly quiet, but I'd estimate that about 25% of the time, there are clicks and crackles, sometimes very loud. If this record were cut cleaner, this record would be just about perfect; i.e., take away those crackles and pops and the vinyl is dead quiet, and the record would be perfec
