Friday Music continues its extensive Deep Purple 180-gram Audiophile Vinyl Series with their 1971 blockbuster Fireball. Often considered one of the more adventurous and prog-rock leaning efforts from their catalog, it truly rewarded their huge fan base with some very solid artistry and memorable tunes. The classic Mark II lineup featuring Ian Gilan, Ritchie Blackmore, Ian Paice, Roger Glover and Jon Lord were on board for this platinum album, which also netted the band one of their biggest hits with "Strange Kind Of Woman."

Friday Music's work has always been hit or miss for me. This time they got pretty close to hitting the nail on the head. Kudos for a nice jacket (something they often screw up) and a decent mastering job. Also kudos for a nice thick quiet pressing. The label, their own hybrid of the old WB green label is a bit odd, but those guys tend to stick their logo all over everything. If you don't have a clean original copy, pick this one up. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Dissapointed

I would put 5 stars for the cover but only one for the sound mastering. From the beginning there was background noise, the vinyl sounded like a cheap CD. It's better to buy old releases instead of a new one like this.

not their best

I liked this for nostalgic reasons. Its not the best record they ever made but it was a step in the right direction for them. They almost had the sound that made them famous here.
