This is one of those Blue Note Records that as Larry Cohn would say, should have come out in 1960 when it was recorded but not released, which was common for Blue Note. Tina on tenor sax is accompanied by Jackie McLean on alto sax, Blue Mitchell on trumpet, Kenny Drew on piano, Paul Chambers on bass and Art Taylor on drums doing tunes like "Back to the Tracks," "Street Singer" and "The Blues and I" all penned by Brooks as well as other tunes.

1. Back to the Tracks
2. Street Singer
3. The Blues and I
4. For Heaven's Sake
5. The Ruby and the Pearl

I played this for the first time last night. Purchased the MM 45rpm release unheard. I was blown away. I've played Tina's more popular album True Blue many times, and its a favourite, but this is better. I am so pleased I took the plunge.

SQ is excellent, every track has your foot tapping and my only regret is that I didn't purchase this a while ago. I've been missing out.

5 stars.
