45 RPM

Sorry, this Product is no longer available.

This title was out of print before it was even pressed! Only 6,000 copies were made, and Acoustic Sounds, Inc. has one-third of the world's production and one-half of those have already been sold. Get it while it lasts!

Mastered by Bernie Grundman. Cut at 45 RPM! Pressed on HQ 180-gram virgin vinyl! Approved by Jennifer Warnes herself, who announced upon first listening, "That's it!!!"

"…This is a sumptuous sounding and beautifully presented three-record box. Cut at 45rpm, FBR now has an improved momentum and a deeper bass, which strengthens the rhythmic sense of Jenny's delivery as it propels us through these exceptional and well-loved Leonard Cohen songs. The transparency, delineation and overall presentation of her delicious vocals are verisimilitude in vinyl." Recording = 10/10; Music = 9.5/10 – Reuben Parry, Hi-Fi+, Issue 58

Famous Blue Raincoat 20th Anniversary Edition 45 RPM LP set features three LPs of quiet virgin vinyl, a 24-page 12" square booklet with complete lyrics, five bonus tracks (four from the Shout! Factory CD plus a Cisco exclusive analog demo recording of "A Singer Must Die," with one missing verse added and a breathtakingly upfront vocal by Jennifer), production notes and exclusive photographs, all packed in a beautiful box for excellent presentation and preservation of your investment.
The 45-RPM version of this great title is a much more refined and satisfying listening experience. Bass is deeper, highs glisten but aren't excessive and Jennifer's non-EQ'd voice becomes a "living presence" in your listening room. An important and much-loved record like Famous Blue Raincoat deserves to be heard exactly as the artist intended.

On Famous Blue Raincoat: The Songs of Leonard Cohen, Jennifer Warnes rearranged and reinterpreted some of Leonard Cohen's greatest songs for a unique album that remains the ultimate tribute to Cohen's music. It was greeted with rave reviews, and made numerous year-end best-of lists.

The Impex 331/3 remasters also excellent but this 45 sounds better. The bass is deeper and Jennifer's voice is beautiful. Get it while you can.

A classic for very good reason! And a bargain!

Superbly mastered and pressed. Couldn't imagine it gets much better than this. Recording and performances are superb. The listener is practically living inside the recording studio!

This album has become my reference album for testing any new audio gear I get. The album is absolutely incredible. The range and quality, quietness of this lp is second to none. I was blown away listening to Bird on a wire. You can hear Jennifer's breath leave her mouth, and turn into airy and clear vocals. It sound so clear you can almost see the smoke hovering in the club!

Not as good as 33rpm original

Just when you think a title that was mastered by the same person three times(original, Classic rock the house and 45), this would be the ultimate pressing. Not to be. Try playing "Bird On The Wire" and compare with the originals, you'll know what I mean.

I have always loved this album for the music and the sonics. I have only had the CD prior to this 45 RPM set. It is fabulous, quiet, and Jennifer's voice has a beautiful timber to it. Expensive, but the quality is there. If you can afford it, get it. Thank you.

I've been listening to this album on the original CD for twenty years and this LP version knocked my socks off. It's as if I'm in the studio. The title song has always been one of my favorites and I hope I don't wear out the LP by listening to it so much. Thank you,Jennifer.

Good enough, in fact marvelous

Much has been written about this album so I have nothing to add. I have no idea if $100000 equipment does not reveal some of the details that should be there, I simply own fairly cheap electronics. However, this record does sound miraculous and is beyond enjoyable. The feeling in the room is fantastic and everybody I played it for was stunned. I don't understand how come that it is not sold out yet. I am sure there may be better albums, or better pressings and test-worthy records, but to me it seems that this one is awfully good. If you are reading this, you are obviously curious about it, what are you still waiting for? There are much worse shopping decisions you have made in life and it will be hard to regret this one. If you find something missing from the sound, I bet you it will be easy to sell it on the Internet.

Simply miraculous. This 3 disc set is so good it just leaves me gasping. The songs are mystical, the vocals are superb with gorgeous arrangements and the sonics are unequaled. This is at the top of my demo list and the top of my "kick back and enjoy" list.

If you Love this album you must have this version!

This pressing is OK. Just OK. The album sounds smooth, but not open, airy or very dynamic. On my very revealing analog set up, it's flat... no punch. It never unleashes the real power and soaring beauty of her voice and the supporting instruments sound soft, constrained and at times even harsh! I can't believe I paid $100 for this.

A bit of disappointment

When this set first came out, I bought 2 copies, planned to get more after listening. But I hate to say it. After comparing 45rpm with 10th anniversary 33rpm by Classic Records under the label Rock the House, also mastered by Bernie Grundman, I have to say that this set is kind of rounded up sounding, not as transparent as the 33rpm, worse, not as emotionally involved as the 33rpm LP. I am especially target the Famous Blue Raincoat cut. And I don't understand why they don't put this song at the very beginning of at least one side of all 6 available sides. Never listened to original LP, but this 45rpm set is kind of disappointment. One copy is enough, still worth buying though.

Jennifer is right! the best I heard Fabulous!

Well worth the long wait, and the long trip the record had to take to get to me, as I live in Germany but like to order from Acoustic Sounds – very reliable with international orders! This album is most certainly going to be one of the special treasures in my collection. The songs don’t need a comment, the mastering is outstanding, great pressing, too, and the quality of sound is absolutely superb. Talking about birthdays – as the previous reviewer did: the icing on my birthday cake was that the UPS package arrived on my 55th birthday. So imagine one happy German customer having a glass of bubbly while listening to this great album. A true classic, both musically and technically.
