Mastered from the original mono analog master tapes by Ray Staff and pressed on 180-gram vinyl by Pallas.

One of the classiest vocal albums of the '50s, Rosemary Clooney collaborates with Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn. Blue Rose is likely Clooney's best album, but it is also a great Duke Ellington record. Clooney offers heartfelt interpretations of classics like "Sophisticated Lady" and "Mood Indigo."

1. Hey Baby
2. Sophisticated Lady
3. Me and You
4. Passion Flower
5. I Let A Song Go Out Of My Heart
6. It Don't Mean a Thing (If It Ain't Got That Swing)
7. Grievin’
8. Blue Rose
9. I’m Checkin’ Out—Goombye

Haven't ever been disappointed by a Pure Pleasure release. This is tops! Duke Ellington's band is very elegant, and a wonderful set up to Rosemary Clooney. The music, the arrangements, and the playing are exceptional, and it's the outstanding quality of the mastering and pressing that let you appreciate it.

Wonderful singing, HOT band

Rosey always sounds good, with that warm tone and beautiful phrasing. I've got about a dozen of Rosey's albums, but the band here is simply incredible.

Of course there's Duke, but just the trumpet section is amazing with Clark Terry, Cat Anderson, Willie Cook and Ray Nance. Clark and Willie take solos in their easily recognizeable styles and Cat blows the seams off the place with notes somewhere North of triple-C. I can imagine Duke saying, "We need a hot one here Cat."

My pressing is excellent. It sounds like I'm listening to the master tape, and a good one at that.

This is the best of two worlds, one of the all time great bands, paired with best singers of the her generation. The instrumental soloists are some of the elite of this era.

I have many albums with Ellington where my judgement is "I've heard it before". Not this time. This is an excellent recording. Rosemary Clooney's intepretation of Ellingtons music is awesome and I enjoy every minute of the album. The (mono) soundstage is huge with a lot of "hifi" and the pressing leaves nothing more to wish. Very much recommended for Ellington lovers.
