Jahbulon Records and Last Dance Pictures present "Easy Money," a 7" single by Sugar Moth from the original award-winning short film The Ballad of Rich and Champ.

The film, partially shot in Salina, Kansas, won the Award of Recognition from the 2023 IndieFEST Film Awards. Songs for the film soundtrack were written by Jonathan Carter Hess and an arrangement band. The songs were recorded on a 16-channel reel-to-reel tape — a completely analog production fit for a 1970s-era film. "Easy Money," the soundtrack's title track, is sung by Alex Costeo. The B-side is "The Gospel of Thomas."

The Ballad of Rich and Champ is a 13-minute short film set in the 1970s that follows pool hustlers Rich and Champ at a small-town bar. When a new challenger steps up with too much money to kill, another night hustling at the billiards table becomes the final crossroads for Rich and Champ. The Ballad of Rich and Champ is a kick-ass slice of '70s American Cinema! With a rock 'n' roll jukebox soundtrack and two out-of-sight dudes, this award winning short film from Kansas filmmaker, Caleb Voyles, is a nostalgia-drenched throwback that will blow your mind and tear at your soul!

The film was part of Kansas native Voyles' film school thesis, and Salinans and other Kansans were involved throughout the production. Isaiah Marcotte, a friend of Voyles and a Salinan, helped produce the film as well as recording songs for the film on a Fostex B16-D reel to reel recorder.

Established in 2008, The IndieFEST Film Awards is a worldwide interntional competition recognizing film, television, videography and new media professionals who demonstrate exceptional achievements craft and creativity. It also recognizes standout entertainment and those who contribute to profound social change through projects.
