Polaroid Lovers is the seventh studio album from four-time Grammy winner Sarah Jarosz. Produced by Daniel Tashian, Polaroid Lovers is a bold creative statement that sees Jarosz exploring new sonic territory. The 11 songs on the album, all co-written by Jarosz with songwriters including Tashian, Jon Randall, Ruston Kelly, and Natalie Hemby, touch on themes both personal and universal: love, longing, and finding one's place in the world.
"Historically I've been somewhat closed off to co-writing, but in the past couple of years I've felt curious to get out of my comfort zone," Jarosz says, in a press release. "For a long time it was important to me to write for myself, so that I wouldn't get lost in those rooms full of amazing writers. But now that I'm more confident in my musical identity, I know I can collaborate but still stay true to my own voice."
"What I love about a Polaroid is that it's capturing something so fleeting, but at the same time it makes that moment last forever," she explains in the announcement. "It made sense as a title for a record where all the songs are snapshots of different love stories, and there's a feeling of time being expansive despite that impermanence."
The first song released from Polaroid Lovers is "Jealous Moon," a co-write with Tashian that finds Jarosz's voice and sound familiar even as she explores a new sound with a more rock edge.
Side A | Jealous Moon | When the Lights Go Out | Runaway Train | The Way It Is Now | Dying Ember | Columbia & 89th | Side B | Take the High Road | Don't Break Down on Me | Days Can Turn Around | Good at What I Do | Mezcal and Lime |
