"...there's an immense, gutsy weight and power to this. Michael Hutchence's voice on the Analogue Productions version is far more in a natural, ambient kind of space ... it's soft, and warm and airy and seductive. ... but this is not in any way, shape or form implying that this soft and fuzzy around the edges, or smoothed over ... it absolutely isn't. I think this is supremely judged by Ryan Smith. ... the bass is really deep, really weighty, there's a phenomenal kind of kick, and power and drive."— Dave Denyer, Youtube video

"You have such wonderful air between all those instruments. You have a lot of attack in this record ... it opens it up so brilliantly without ... in a nutshell, this reissue makes this brilliant record an unbelievable record." — Michael Ludwigs, 45 RPM Audiophile, YouTube video

Kick, the sixth and best-selling 1987 studio album by Australian band INXS, has the unmistakable sound personified by its four U.S. Top 10 singles, "New Sensation," "Never Tear Us Apart," "Devil Inside" and "Need You Tonight," — which reached the top of the U.S. Billboard singles charts.

Between 1980 and 1984, INXS released four studio albums and had toured their native country Australia extensively. With Kick, producer Chris Thomas fused the funk and soul of their previous album The Swing with the mainstream rock of Listen Like Thieves. In an interview with MusicRadar, Andrew Farriss stated, "The melding of funk and rock was always in our heads. We were very excited about the idea of overlaying two types of songs and genres together."

Kick showcased a diverse range of musical styles, blending rock, pop, funk, and dance elements. This versatility appealed to a wide audience, making the album accessible to fans of different genres. It's four catchy singles became radio staples and were accompanied by stylish music videos, helping propel INXS to international stardom.

Incorporating elements such as electronic percussion and synthesizers gave Kick a modern sound, helping it stand out, together with Michael Hutchence's charismatic and sultry vocals that created a strong emotional connection.

All the hallmarks of a top-notch Analogue Productions reissue are here for you to savor: Mastered directly from an EQ'd Dolby tape copy by Ryan K. Smith at Sterling Sound and cut at 45 RPM. Pressed on 180-gram vinyl at Quality Record Pressings, and housed in a tip-on old style gatefold double pocket jacket by Stoughton Printing.

I've only had a digital version of this album, so I wasn't prepared for how good this record could sound. To put it briefly? 'Kick' is aptly named as it kicks some major butt! "Devil Inside," "Need You Tonight" and "New Sensation" are punchy and dynamic, as they should be. It's like having the sound quality of a 12-inch single. I've played this more than I should admit. It's that much fun.

Excellent Pressing!

Wow what a amazing pressing from AC! Sounds like it was recorded yesterday, from the airy vocals and puncy tight bass response. These pressing from AC just keep getting better! Definitely get this one before it sells out quick. I'm using my ClearAudio Performance Dc air Turntable with the ClearAudio Charisma Cartridge and Tracertonearm through my Focal Kanta 2 and I can't get over the details and separation and when the saxophones kick in,I was in for a special treat it hit those highs without a trace of harshness!

I'll admit it, INXS was my favorite band during college. Saw them at a bunch of small venues in Chicago and Houston, and then in huge venues in Chicago and Houston. A GREAT live band, and this is by far their best album (everyone knows this). This is not an album I would think would get this treatment, but so glad it did. The MOFI silver table version of this album is great, and this repress takes it to a whole other level. Thanks so much AS!!

Phenomenal, obviously!!

I’m honestly growing tired of trying to find the words to describe the each new title in the Atlantic 75 series. I mean they get better and better, and how is that even possible. These albums have never had better treatment. Perfect.

We can all agree our newest record is our favorite for at least a few days and then it gets put away into our collection. Then at some future date we revisit all those wonder records and it reminds us why we love this hobby so much. It all new again and it just feels right. The last few days I have been critical listening to the latest Acoustic Sounds Atlantic 75 series - INXS Kick and as you would expect it's high-quality audio / packaging. (Must say was not a big INXS Fan earlier in life - this release changed my stance on this Band) The INXS is next level with its 3D sound signatures and in your face appeal it is a sure winner. This will be on my table for a while as there is a lot to take in and enjoy.
