Richard Wright's debut solo album, 1978's Wet Dream, is slated for a reissue through Rhino/Parlophone Records on July 28, which would have been the late Pink Floyd keyboard player's 80th birthday.

The reissue will feature new artwork, as well as a new remix courtesy of Steven Wilson, in stereo, Dolby Atmos and 5.1 surround. The Blu-ray additionally includes two extra passages of music that were edited out of the original mix as well as never-before-seen personal archive videos.

The Pink Floyd Collectors Facebook group announced: "Rick Wright's solo album from 1978 Wet Dream has been remixed by Steven Wilson and will be released on Rick's 80th heaven birthday July 28th 2023. The release will feature new artwork and the initial release will be on CD and streaming sites."

Wilson said: "Most people know that Pink Floyd have always been my favorite band, so it was a real honor to be comissioned by Richard's children, Gala and Jamie Wright, to remix this relatively underrated and beautiful entry in the Floyd canon. For anyone hearing the album for the first time it will become apparent just how much of Richard's DNA runs through Pink Floyd. His distinctive rhythm patterns, signature keyboard sounds, vocals, jazz influences, and style of play exude throughout."

The reissue features new artwork, commissioned by Wright's children, Gala and Jamie, managers of the Richard Wright Estate, including the photo taken by Costas Spathis, a photographer living and working in Greece where the album was written and has been designed is by Carl Glover. Storm Thorgerson and Aubrey Powell's original Hipgnosis artwork for the album features in the vinyl booklet. Both Wet Dream and Broken China, Wright's 1996 follow-up, have long been out of print in the U.K., but Wet Dream was reissued on CD in the United States and Canada in the 1990s, with some success, and again in 2008 in Australia, following Wright's death.

Wright died from lung cancer at his home in London on September 15, 2008, at age 65. At the time of his death he was reportedly working on material for a new solo album.
