Natural sound recording
This album is part of recordings fonè's Giulio Cesare Ricci made on the occasion of concerts of the fonè Music Festival Piaggio edition 2021. Ricci realized this recording at the Auditorium Piaggio located inside the famous Museum in Pontedera, the place where Piaggio was born and where it still continues to produce today.
Inside the Museum every year the public from all over the world can admire the Piaggio production made over the years, all the models of the Vespe and Ape, all the Aprilia, Gilera and Moto Guzzi motorcycles that have won national and international awards over time.
For this recording Ricci brought both analog (Ampex ATR 102 Electronic Tube Ampex Model 351-1965, 2 tracks, 1/2 inch, 30ips modified by David Manley) and digital (Pyramix Recorder, dCS A/D and D/A converters).
This is because he has always created two Masters for each recording: an analogue master for Vinyls and a DSD digital master for SuperAudioCDs. For the SACD he used the DSD format, on Pyramix using the dCS A/D and D/A converters DSD. The mastering of the SACD was done by Ricci using the Signoricci entirely analog and valve system. A state-of-the-art system with no sound manipulation, no equalization, no reverb, no compression and expansion ... but natural sound with true timbre to best enhance the acoustics of the Auditorium of the Piaggio Museum.
As for the microphones, Ricci used his original collection of Neumann U47, U48, M49 in addition to the microphone preamp and Signoricci cables. Using pairs of Neumann tube microphones from the years 1947 and 1949 (U47, U48 and M49) produced a very natural tone using field effect bi-microphone techniques. These microphones have an important history: they are in fact the original microphones used to record, among others, the Beatles performances in the Abbey Road Studio and by RCA for the "Living Stereo" recordings. No other microphone has such a true timbre and the ability to record all the nuances of sound and all the richness of the harmonics.
In this album the protagonists are G. Mirabassi clarinet, N. Di Modugno classical guitar and P. Balducci acoustic bass. What these three artists gave birth was not a concert but a real evocative and evocative journey from the Mediterranean to South America.
Among the songs played we find "De coração a coração" (Jacob do Bandolim) "En la orilla del mundo" (Martin Rojas - Pablo Milanés) "Love theme from I girasoli" (Henry Mancini) "The suspended loves" (Ferdinando Di Modugno).
