Duke Pearson - Merry Ole Soul

Blue Note Classic Vinyl Edition on 180-gram LP

Pianist Duke Pearson recorded his Christmas album Merry Ole Soul in 1969 with Bob Cranshaw on bass and Mickey Roker on drums, as well as percussionist Airto Moreira on several tracks. The only Christmas album recorded during Blue Note's classic era, the set includes holiday favorites including "Sleigh Ride," "Jingle Bells," "Silent Night," and more. This Blue Note Classic Vinyl Edition is all-analog, mastered by Kevin Gray from the original master tapes, and pressed on 180-gram vinyl at Optimal.

Will bring a smile to your face posted on 10/16/2021 5 Stars Reviewer: Doug C I've always been a fan of 'Christmas records' (as we used to call them) and found them to be an enjoyable diversion across many genres. Not many jazz artists did them however but this strikes me as one of the best all around I've heard. This 'new' discovery for me - both artist and album - is highly recommendable to both the curious and non-jazz fan alike. Since it is in a jazz format, one can get away with playing it all year round before others catch up to what you are listening to. If interested, don't hesitate. Great sound, silent pressing.
