Marvin Gaye classic's original Detroit Mix reissued on vinyl LP!

Rolling Stone 500 Greatest Albums of All Time — rated No. 1/500!

Reissue of the fantastic What's Going On (Original Detroit Mix), which was released in 2001 as a double CD as a Deluxe Edition including unreleased material and became a hot topic among not only soul lovers but also many music listeners!

There was a source that had been mastered in Detroit, Motown's home base, before the original source (which was mastered in Los Angeles on May 6, 1971) that is currently available in the market. The arrangement is so raw and rough that it seems to have vacuum-packed the atmosphere of the studio and the world at the time of recording, and the more you listen to this album, the more you will be amazed.

Side A
1. What's Going On (Detroit Mix)
2. What's Happening Brother (Detroit Mix)
3. Flyin' High (In The Friendly Sky)
4. Save The Children (Detroit Mix)
5. God Is Love (Detroit Mix)
6. Mercy Mercy Me (The Ecology)

Side B
1. Right On (Detroit Mix)
2. Wholy Holy (Detroit Mix)
3. Inner City Blues (Make Me Wanna Holler)

Great pressing. Dead quiet and the music is fabulous of course. I really like the Detroit mix. Don't understand why it hasn't been pressed in the US.

This album is as relevant today as it was 50 years ago - unfortunately. When will we learn?

Sounds amazing but be careful

Public Service Announcement: The resealable outer sleeve has the adhesive applied to the flap rather than the body of the sleeve so you need to be very careful not to stick the flap to the cardboard sleeve or obi strip when removing the album. Not a very clever design. All the sleeves I use have the adhesive strip on the body of the sleeve which is very easy to avoid damage.

That aside, everything else about this release is sensational! Very dynamic, dead quiet wax, flat pressing and the gatefold is nice and heavy like they used to be back when this was initially released.
