Reissue of the 5-star masterwork!

Faithfully reproduced cover artwork

In 1979, superstar R&B veterans The Spinners were rewarded by their label Atlantic Records with their first greatest hits album simply titled The Best of Spinners. Featuring the classic line-up of the Phillipe Soul Wynn, Henry Fambrough, Pervis Jackson, Bobbie Smith and Billy Henderson, these Detroit superstars ruled the charts for many soulful years.

Featuring a ton of smash hits produced and written by the likes of Philly favorites Thom Bell and Linda Creed, and featuring The Sound Of Philadelphia and Motown players like MFSB, and the Funk Brothers' Bob Babbit, The Best of Spinners album has become one of their most loved works in their stunning gold and platinum career.

With superlative chart topping pop and R&B classics like "Could It Be I'm Falling In Love," "I'll Be Around" and "Mighty Love," plus brilliant dance smashes like "The Rubberband Man," The Best of Spinners album would go on to become one of the best-selling albums in their extensive catalog. The long out-of-print original version of this greatest hits masterpiece also includes the history making duet with Dionne Warwick and their chart topper "Then Came You."

Dig deeper into the Philly and Detroit grooves and there you find even more platinum plus treasures such as the masterful "One of a Kind (Love Affair)," the powerful "They Just Can't Stop It the (Games People Play)" plus the tender ballads "Sadie" and "How Could I Let You Get Away," making The Best of Spinners one of the finest overviews ever of this stellar supergroup.

It's with much excitement that Friday Music presents for the first time the 180-gram audiophile vinyl release of the legendary Spinners greatest hits masterpiece The Best of Spinners. Mastered impeccably by Joe "Philly Soul" Reagoso at Friday Music Studios and Capitol Mastering, this stunning LP was long overdue for an audiophile vinyl release.

Mixed feelings

The pressing is excellent/quiet, and the gold vinyl is beautiful! But I have mixed feelings about the sound. Some of the tracks sound wonderful and warm, like "One of a Kind (Love Affair)" and "They Just Can't Stop It The (Games People Play)". Others like "I'll be Around" sound bright. Not sure what the source was, or if it was different for some of the tracks. My analog components are all tube and tend to the warm side, yet on some of the tracks I felt the need to turn the volume down. Overall recommended, but can't give it 5 stars.
