Acoustic blues at its best, played by one of the masters of the art! AllMusic says this is a refreshing all-acoustic session from Allison that demonstrates a previously hidden side of his talent. Though there are some hard-rocking stomps, his playing reveals new grace and subtlety, making it a necessary purchase for all diehard fans.

Born in Widener, Arkansas on August 17, 1939, Luther Allison spent his formative musical years in Chicago jamming with the West Side's best, including Magic Sam, Otis Rush and Freddie King. Allison came to national prominence with blistering performances at the 1969 and 1970 Ann Arbor Blues Festivals, wowing young rock Fans with his scorching guitar solos and soulful vocals. His first recording, Love Me Mama (Delmark, 1969), is considered a blues classic. Throughout his career he racked up W.C. Handy Awards and a host of Living Blues Awards, as well as national appearances and he appeared on the covers of Living Blues, Blues Access and Blues Revue. He died on Aug. 12, 1997, at the age of 57, in Madison, Wisconsin.
