This is an all-star tribute to one of the greatest songwriters of the 20th Century, John Hartford. Some of the best in the Americana world and bluegrass/newgrass worlds have contributed songs to this release including Todd Snider, Sam Bush, The Band of Heathens, Leftover Salmon, Railroad Earth, Fruition, Yonder Mountain String Band, The Infamous Stringdusters, and more.
John Hartford died from cancer June 4, 2001, at the age of 63. He was an American folk, country, and bluegrass composer and musician known for his mastery of the fiddle and banjo, as well as for his witty lyrics, unique vocal style, and extensive knowledge of Mississippi River lore.
The Hartford Family gave LoHi Records their blessing and all net proceeds are being donated to MusiCares to help musicians out which is more important now than ever before.
