Come From Away is the breathtaking new musical written by Canadians Irene Sankoff and David Hein and
produced by Tony-nominated director Christopher Ashley (Memphis). In a heartbeat, 38 planes with 6,579 passengers were stranded in Newfoundland. The locals opened their hearts and homes, hosting this international community of strangers — spurring unexpected camaraderie in extraordinary circumstances. On September 11, 2001 the world stopped. On September 12, their stories moved us all.

Irene Sankoff and David Hein (Book, Music & Lyrics) are an Olivier Award-winning Canadian married writing team. Their musical Come From Away broke house records at the La Jolla Playhouse and Seattle Repertory en route to Broadway, going on to win a Tony Award, six San Diego Critics Circle Awards, five Outer Critics Circle Awards, four Olivier Awards, four Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Awards, four Helen Hayes Awards, four Gypsy Rose Lee Awards, three Drama Desk Awards, three Toronto Theatre Critics Awards, and three Dora Awards.

David and Irene were nominated for Tony Awards for Best Book and Score and received a Grammy nomination for the Come From Away album. David and Irene are the recipients of the Franklin D. Roosevelt Four Freedoms Award and the Meritorious Service Cross of Canada.
