Grammy-winning bluesman returns with appearances by Rosanne Cash and Robert Randolph

Fresh off the Grammy Award-winning album TajMo, his collaboration with Taj Mahal, prolific blues musician Keb' Mo' returns with his first solo record in five years, Oklahoma. Sonically timeless but lyrically relevant, Oklahoma solidifies Keb' as a modern master of American roots music, a reputation he has held and expanded on throughout his 25+ year career.

"I'm more interested in pleasing myself and making records that make me feel proud and make me feel like I've done my best. And if other people like it, that's gravy," Mo' says.

Indeed, in his quarter-century as a recording artist, the charismatic singer/guitarist/ songwriter and four-time Grammy Award winner has consistently made music that reflects his own passions and interests. In the process, he's earned a reputation for his ability to draw upon his bottomless roots-music expertise to make deeply expressive, highly personal music.

That's the case throughout Oklahoma, whose expansive creative vistas reflect the eponymous state's wide-open spaces. With noted musical veteran Colin Linden (The Band, Bruce Cockburn) heading up production duties, the album's 10 tracks encompass Keb' Mo's diverse talents, with the artist delivering some of the most adventurous and personal work of his career.

I have this album on digital and vinyl. A great Album for Keb Mo fans but the vinyl feels like an MP3 album - compresses and lacks dynamics.

If the sample track is any indication; this is going to be an awesome effort by Keb' Mo'. Saw this man at Mindi Abair's 1st Annual Wine + Music Festival in Punta Gorda, Florida. Crowd, and me, loved him. Must have this new recording. First, because I'm an Okie born and bred. Second, s'got that Tulsa Sound. He's gone; but I'm sure JJ Cale would give this two thumbs up!!
