Due out June 28, 2019 from Concord Jazz, Chick Corea & The Spanish Heart Band — Antidote is a musical cure for a turbulent time, bringing together artists from diverse cultures to make harmonious music together. Chick Corea's brand new Spanish Heart Band is a flamenco-charged eight-man band of Latin rhythm masters. Since he first played with the Spanish Flamenco guitar legend Paco de Lucia, Corea has built a deep catalog of Latin jazz brilliance, beginning with his modern-classic song "Spain," and the world-groove inspired first Return to Forever album, featuring "Sometime Ago / La Fiesta."

Madrid's own Jorge Pardo, an original member of Paco's band, joins Corea on sax and flute, and Niño Josele, who played in Paco's band in the last years, brings flamenco guitar artistry. Michael Rodriguez on trumpet and Steve Davis on trombone form one of the great modern front lines on horns. Corea's unstoppable rhythm section — Cuban master Carlitos Del Puerto on bass and drum master of all rhythms Marcus Gilmore — provide the backbone.

In addition to this stellar new ensemble, the recording features guest appearances by the acclaimed Panamanian vocalist Rubén Blades and gifted singers Gayle Moran Corea and Maria Bianca.

Corea reimagines "The Yellow Nimbus," from his 1982 album Touchstone, which now prominently features two flamenco artists, guitarist Nino Josele and dancer Nino de los Reyes.

The album features other reimagined pieces from his back catalogue including "Duende" from Touchstone, and "Armando's Rhumba" from My Spanish Heart.

"My genetics are Italian, but my heart is Spanish. I grew up with that music. This new band is a mix of all the wonderful and various aspects of my love and lifetime experience with these rhythms that have been such a big part of my musical heritage," Corea says.
