"It's impossible to overstate how marvelously moving and purely enjoyable the end result is, paving the way, we hope, for a follow-up." — American Songwriter, June 2016

"This fruitful collaboration between k.d. Lang, Neko Case and Laura Veirs succeeds largely because it makes room for all three distinctive voices and songwriting styles, alongside sublimely blended three-way harmonies." — Uncut, June 2016

The new album case/lang/veirs is a one-of-a-kind event from three phenomenal, self-driven artists: avant-rock icon Neko Case, legendary musical nomad k.d. lang and indie folk star Laura Veirs. Several years ago k.d. lang sent an email to Neko Case and Laura Veirs on a whim. It read simply, "I think we should make a record together."

Although the three musicians were barely more than acquaintances "Laura and I both responded immediately," recalls Case. "There was no question."

But now there is an answer. case/lang/veirs, released June 17, 2016 on Anti- with an extensive tour to follow. case/lang/veirs features 14 new, original songs written by the artists over a period of 2 1/2 years. It was recorded in Portland, Oregon where lang and Veirs both live, and produced by Tucker Martine with the group. Sessions commenced in lang's loft with a view of Mount St. Helens, and in Veirs' dining room and backyard studio.

Full of stunning harmonies and spellbinding rhythms, case/lang/veirs draws inspiration from alluring, mysterious subjects: a supermoon, the tumbledown story of '70s singer Judee Sill, and the "best kept secret" in Silver Lake, to name but three.

Great music/rough pressing

This record is full of 5 star worthy great music, but the copy I have is full of "pops" and "ticks" Zerostat made no difference and VPI record cleaner improved it only marginally. Played it on a few different decks with same results. It's too bad; the play quality of this record really distracts from the beautiful music.
