Night and Day is Joe Jackson's fifth album, released in June 1982. The title is from a Cole Porter song, and the album reflects a transition to a more sophisticated level of songwriting.

This was Jackson's only studio album to reach the Top 5 in both the U.K. and U.S., selling more than one million copies, earning gold disc status.

"Steppin' Out" earned Grammy nominations for Record of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Performance, Male. "Breaking Us in Two" also reached the Top 20 in the U.S. Although the album has sold more than three million copies in the U.S., it is only certified gold, not triple-platinum, by the RIAA, for reasons unknown.

"Steppin' Out" was a Top 10 in both the U.K. and the U.S. (U.K. No. 6, U.S. No. 6). "Breaking Us in Two" was a Top 20 hit in the U.S. (No. 18), but charted lower in the U.K. (No. 59). This was a rare occurrence in which one of his singles charted higher in the U.S. than the U.K.

Terrific sounding record posted on 09/17/2022 5 Stars Reviewer: Rick After buying the "Body and Soul" release from Intervention, and hearing how incredible it sounds, I had to get this Joe Jackson record. It does not disappoint! This is easily one of the best mastered and best pressed records I own. If all my vinyl sounded like this, I'd never leave the house. Just buy it!!
