In the aptly titled Spectrum, Billy Cobham revealed his interest and aptitude for rock, jazz and funk. Cobham's band mates include keyboardist Jan Hammer, guitarist Tommy Bolin, and electric bassist Lee Sklar as well as Ray Barretto on congas.

Cobham was fresh off his success with the Mahavishnu Orchestra when he recorded this debut album. The guitar licks from the late Tommy Bolin are particularly memorable. He merges beautifully with Cobham's Mahavishnu band mate Jan Hammer. Spectrum was one of the big influences in the funk/jazz and fusion genre. Spectrum reached No. 1 on jazz charts around the world as well as becoming a crossover phenomenon.

Been listening to this album for years and love it. My vinyl had seen better days and was looking for a replacement. I don't typically buy digital but decided based on the description to give it a try.

Sound quality is amazing, better than I remember my original sounding years ago. Percussion is so punchy. This is a must have if you're into fusion...or for that matter just good music.
