The Replacements, formed in 1979, are considered a pioneer of alternative rock. Unlike many of their underground contemporaries, the group played "heart-on-the-sleeve" rock songs that combined Westerberg's "raw-throated adolescent howl" with self-deprecating lyrics. Notoriously a wayward live act, they often performed under the influence of alcohol and played fragments of covers instead of their own material.

This 4LP Box Set contains the titles Sorry Ma, Forgot To Take Out the Trash, the debut studio album released in 1981, the 8-track Stink EP released in 1982, the 1983 album Hootenanny, and the 1984 Let It Be full-length.
