Music composed and conducted by John Barry, lyrics by Don Black
For 50 plus years, a significant part of the excitement leading up to each new James Bond adventure in espionage has been the reveal of each film's theme song and its recording artist. Many of music's top stars have been honored to write and record new songs for 007, to see and hear their music brought to life in the films' sultry opening credits and reprised in score pieces within the film.
Many Bond themes have been major hits around the world including Dame Shirley Bassey's sensual "Goldfinger," Tom Jones' dramatic "Thunderball," Paul McCartney and Wings' soaring "Live And Let Die," Carly Simon's erotically charged "Nobody Does It Better," Sheena Easton's sultry "For Your Eyes Only," and Duran Duran's new wave belter "A View To A Kill," plus Adele's "Skyfall" becoming the first Bond theme to win at the Golden Globes, the Brit Awards and the Academy Awards, where it won the 2013 Oscar for Best Original Song.
1971's Diamonds Are Forever marked the sixth consecutive James Bond original motion picture soundtrack from composer John Barry aka 'The Man With The Midas Touch' and the second of three successful title track turns in the franchise from the legendary Shirley Bassey.
