I'm delighted with my all-Sony rig. I've the little hi-res hard drive player, the hi-res HAP-S1, driving the SS-HA1s in my modest apartment. The 35 wpc amp in the player is well-mated to these speakers - Sony knew what they were doing in creating them one for the other. I also picked up a used Sony ST-SA5ES as a tuner.

The sound quality for the player/speaker set is crisp and clean. I've never sensed it was lean or over-analytical, but full and complete and accurate. I think the super tweeters help with that.

I'm a long-time fan of the hi-end Sony house sound. and this set seems a more refined version although not quite as "full and strong" as perhaps the classic receivers like the STR-6060fw or STR-6200f,

One note - the bodies are NOT made of aluminum but they are CLAD in sheet metal. They do give a decent knuckle rap test but sound like a good, solid MDF design.

I call them great value speakers.
