Released in tandem with EMI's huge Why Pink Floyd...? campaign that includes remastered CDs, an SACD, Blu-Ray DVDs, memorabilia box sets and more from their legendary catalog.

Remastered by James Guthrie with artwork by Storm Thorgerson.

By all industry standards, The Dark Side Of The Moon is a phenomenon. Known for its complex instrumental textures, the album firmly established Pink Floyd as one of the most innovative bands in rock history. Since its release in 1973, The Dark Side Of The Moon has sold over 30 million copies and spent an incredible 741 weeks on Billboard's Album Chart.

This release is part of a larger Why Pink Floyd...? campaign by EMI. The releases are designed to appeal to a wide cross section of their fans, with music to excite first time listeners, while super-deluxe box sets will cater to dedicated fans, allowing them to immerse themselves in multi-disc sets, containing alternate takes, unreleased tracks, restored live concert screen films and a live recording of the legendary The Dark Side Of The Moon performance at Wembley in 1974.

A series of different listening experiences have been specially created for this release: in addition to remastered CDs called Discovery and the Immersion CD/DVD/Blu-Ray/memorabilia box sets will be a series of Experience Editions - coupling one classic album with a further disc of related content from that album to offer a deeper listening experience.

Storm Thorgerson, the band's longtime Art Director, has overseen the visual design, including new booklets for all the CDs, new artwork for the box sets and menus for the DV content. Respected photographer Jill Furmanovsky has edited books of original unseen photographs. Pink Floyd collaborators James Guthrie (in the U.S.) and Andy Jackson (in the U.K.) have been in charge of digital remastering to the highest audio and audiovisual standards.

Great (for digital)!

I've been waiting for a bit for someone to leave a review, but as that hadn't yet happened I decided to buy a copy and review this myself. This was an extremely good sounding LP...for one that is very clearly from a digital source. If for some reason you're a vinyl listener who prefers the sound of very high resolution digital audio over analog, then this may just be the pressing for you. Honestly, it would be hard for anything to top the 30th anniversary edition, but this version really ain't too bad at all.

A Let Down

I was looking forward to this one - and the packaging was amazing! Unfortunately, the record itself has a scratchy sound, particularly on the right channel, that is consistent throughout. I have tried the Audioquest brush, and then the Spin Clean, but it is obviously a bad pressing. I want this to be what it should be - so I am sending it back in hopes of getting a better copy. I will update at that time.

UPDATE: New copy arrived. It, too, is noisy, but not to the degree of the first copy. There is a physical scuff that crosses 1/3 of side one. The noise is the same scratchy sound but more subdued. Interestingly on Amazon many reviewers noted the same thing. And just to add insult to injury, one of the included stickers was carelessly inserted and bent in half. It looks like EMI got it all wrong. They should have subbed this out to QRP!
