Prior to owning this album I heard it at the Rocky Mtn Audio Fest in the Lowther suite. This was the 2010 show a year and a half ago. Louis Armstrong never sat in my lap and played his trumpet for me until that day. It was not only me, but everyone that hit that room and heard this LP was stone cold stopped in their tracks. Yes....there are only 2 cuts, one on each side. Yes...it's pricey for only 2 songs. But what do you get besides the 2 songs? You get clarity, placement, and "kick you in the stomach" Blues. Stereo rechanneling was so well done you don't even care. IMHO, you'll never hear Armstrong better anywhere else. As long as you have this album, Louis lives on.

I love the sound of this "album" (it's only 2 songs after all!). It sounds like it was recorded yesterday with Louis Armstrong's voice clear and crisp, the instruments slightly back and sounding very real. The end of both tracks finishes of with cymbals fading away forever and just sound terrific. St James Infirmary has an awesome sound and Louis appears to be having fun singing it; it's a pleasure to listen to. All-in-all, sound quality wise and musically, I really enjoy listening to these two tracks. It blows me away thinking that this thing was recorded in 1959 (the year I was born!) and these are songs that Armstrong originally played in the 20s and 30s, 80-90 years ago! I sometimes like putting it on before I end the listening session, sort of an audio desert!
