Calling All Stations was an attempt by Mike Rutherford and Tony Banks to continue Genesis after Phil Collins departed the group the previous year. Vocalist Ray Wilson's darker delivery was more reminiscent of the early Peter Gabriel-inspired Genesis, making Calling All Stations, in some respects, a return to the band's roots as a more album-oriented group.
