"...its 30th anniversary this year is more fitting for Analogue Productions to embrace this album as part of their highly successful Atlantic 75 series. ... the 45rpm treatment uncovers some aural nuggets buried deep in the mix. The extra guitar panned to the right during the verses of 'Vasoline' is more prominent. The shaker percussion on 'Interstate Love Song' always blended with the song's backing track; it gets a spotlight here. ... This 45rpm cut of 'Purple' is the defining way to experience this album and it produces plenty of surprises." — Music = 10/11; Sound = 11/11 Dylan Peggin, TrackingAngle.com. "...they're both amazing sounding records and you are not going to be disappointed in either one of these." — Rocco Richardson, review of Stone Temple Pilot's 'Core' and 'Purple' albums, Pieces of Vinyl YouTube video

Purple, the second studio album released in 1994 by the Stone Temple Pilots, stands as a monumental achievement in the band's career and a defining moment in the grunge and alternative rock music scene of the 1990s. With a potent blend of raw energy, introspective lyrics and masterful musicianship, Purple not only catapulted Stone Temple Pilots to superstardom, but it also marked a significant evolution in the band's sound.

The album, building on the foundations laid by the band's debut album Core, was a huge success for the band, debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart and quickly achieving multi-platinum status, worldwide.

Its chart-topping single, "Interstate Love Song," became an anthem for a generation, and the album as a whole showcased the band's artistic prowess.

Lyrically, "Purple" also revealed a more introspective and mature side of Stone Temple Pilots. Scott Weiland's songwriting delved into personal struggles and emotions, addressing themes of addiction, love, and self-discovery. This depth added a layer of authenticity to the album, allowing listeners to connect with the band on a profound level.

Purple also demonstrated that Stone Temple Pilots were more than just another grunge act; they were a force to be reckoned with, capable of delivering powerful and emotionally resonant music. Purple remains a crucial chapter in the band's history and an essential listen for any fan of rock music.

Analogue Productions has given the showstopping Purple the full reissue treatment: Mastered directly from the original master tape by Ryan K. Smith at Sterling Sound and cut at 45 RPM. Pressed on 180-gram vinyl at Quality Record Pressings, and housed in a tip-on old style gatefold double pocket jacket by Stoughton Printing.

This thing is amazing! So thankful Chad decided to do some 90s albums. Nothing but quality, the jacket is amazing and the mastering, I can’t describe in words. Listening on an all tube system, it’s like the band is in the room. Robert’s bass really shines in this mix. I wished they would do the whole STP catalog. It’s like listening to the album for the first time again. Highly recommend.

Just WOW !

Maybe I'm too much of a STP and Scott W. fanboy but this record blows me away how it sounds I have several different copies, and none come close the only time I heard this music sound this alive is the many times I saw them live, standing between my 2 Cornwalls IV I could not stop smiling and moving to Vasoline, Not sure what all the YouTube reviewers are knocking it for not being as punchy as Core maybe its your volume this record needs to be played loud ask my neighbors, My only regret is I preordered outside of AS so no # copy and received 3 weeks after release but the music makes up for my loss of enthusiasm prior to receiving, hope you continue with STP to No #4 thats a beautiful record as well as Tiny Music

Excellent

AP has made the definitive pressings of STP’s first two albums. I really hope this series continues because I need Songs From the Vatican on 45!

I can't get over how these releases are every bit as good as 95 % of all MOFI's One Steps. I have purchased most of Analoge Productions Atlantic 75th series releases and they all are amazing for $60.00. There has been one that was a disappointment, but all in all they are all home runs. The commitment to sound quality and quite vinyl is unparalleled, and as I have said before , how can Chad and the engineers get the vinyl to sound as good if not better than pressings costing twice what Analogue Productions charges. Really? How is this the case? Keep it up Analogue Productions, Chad, and Mastering engineers at QRP. THANK YOU. .
