The Classic Hybrid DVD Audio Disc (HDAD) is a two-sided DVD disc with 24/192 PCM data playable on DVD Audio players on one side, and 24/96 PCM data playable on DVD Video players on the other side. The Classic HDAD is a truly universal DVD disc playable on all DVD players. So if you have a DVD video player, you can play the DVD Video side of the HDAD - insert the disc with the Blue center ring facing up and enjoy 24/96 playback resolution. On a DVD Audio player, simply flip the disc over with the Red ring facing up and enjoy 24/192 playback resolution.

When Cannonball Adderley scheduled the 1958 recording of what was to be his only Blue Note LP, he called on his old employer from their days as quintet members on Columbia, Miles Davis. The reunion resulted in one of the greatest and most revered Jazz LPs ever: Somethin' Else. The quintet delivers beautiful renditions of "Autumn Leaves," "Love For Sale," "One For Daddy-O," "Dancing In The Dark" and the title tune. Cut from the original first generation analog masters, it sizzles.

1.   Autumn Leaves
2.   Love For Sale
3.   Somethin' Else
4.   One For Daddy-O

I used DVDA Explorer to convert the disc to 192 KHz WAV files for playback through a music server and audiophile set. The "bonus" track six did not register and track two came out as white noise. The other four tracks are perfect, sound astounding and worth the price of the disc. If anyone has any hints for me about getting the other two tracks, I'd sure appreciate it.

Best PCM yet

This sounds so much better than the 24/96 that they released as a DAD. If you do not know this recording you are living under a rock. This rates with Miles Davis best collaborations, and I only wish I could get the whole thing on 45 vinyl. If DVD-A could do multichannell at this 192K resolution they may have SACD beat (except on the deep bass). I loved the Muddy Waters HDAD so much that I got several others. Classic records is recommending doing a vinyl comparison with HDAD- it comes pretty close for digital!

I have over 100 SACD and 6 DVD-A. This is the best of the old recordings for sure and probably any new ones - esp in 24/192 !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great sound quality !!
